Mission

To enhance and expand educational opportunities for students by encouraging community investment in Three Rivers District Schools.

History

The Three Rivers Schools Foundation was established in the summer of 2006 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized that the growing challenges of the public school system were not being met by traditional state funding. Together, this group of parents, school officials, teachers and community members formed an Oregon non-profit 501(c)(3) to provide a dependable  supplemental source of funding for improvements in the Three Rivers School District’s programs and facilities. Although other worthwhile foundations and non-profit groups do exist, there are none that have been established with the primary goal of offering long-term fiscal enhancement to local public education programs at all grade levels (K-12) and in all subject areas.

Structure

The foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of community volunteers representing the various interests and constituencies that exist within our district.

The Foundation is independent of the school district and is governed accordingly. School board members are elected to set district policy. Foundation trustees are volunteers committed to identifying and cultivating donations and gifts for the schools to use to enhance programs.

The district superintendent and one school board member sit on the foundation board to assure that common visions and goals are carried out.

Raise funds for educational programs not ordinarily funded through the district, such as grants for school programs or special initiatives and scholarships for students. Create opportunities for the community to become partners with the school district through the foundation, such as financial contributions from private or corporate sources and representation on the Advisory Committee and subcommittees.

As a result of the 2006 Planning Survey the foundation will focus on projects in the following areas:
